Pool screen door won’t close or latch?

Nine times out of ten it is not the rollers or the latch itself — it is the door frame racking out of square because the corner fasteners have corroded. New rollers on a racked frame buy a few months at best.

What actually moves

A racked frame, not a broken latch

A screen door is the only moving part of the enclosure, so it wears on a different schedule to the rest of the cage. The classic Oviedo symptom is a door that drags and will not line up with the strike — and on a frame from the 1985–1997 build window, that is almost always corner fasteners that have corroded enough to let the frame twist a few degrees. New rollers alone do not fix a racked frame.

If bugs are getting in and the panels look fine, check the door sweep and side seals first — a genuinely cheap, often do-it-yourself fix, and unrelated to a racking problem.

pool screen door won't close

Almost always the frame has racked out of square because the corner fasteners have corroded — common on Oviedo doors from the 1985–1997 build window — not a broken latch or worn rollers. New rollers on a racked frame buy a few months. If the mesh is torn but the door still hangs and latches correctly, that is a simple rescreen with a new kickplate; if it drags or will not line up with the strike, it usually needs a full door rebuild.

Tell us the neighborhood, roughly how many panels are torn, and whether the cage is single or two storey. That is enough to give you a real number instead of a range.
