Problems · Screen sagging
Why is my pool screen sagging?
Almost always it is the spline — the vinyl cord that locks mesh into the frame’s groove — losing its grip, not the mesh itself stretching. Fiberglass pool-cage mesh does not stretch back once tensioned. On a 1980s or 1990s Oviedo frame the groove has usually been rescreened once or twice already and has worn wide enough that a standard spline no longer holds.

What’s actually loose
The spline, not the mesh
Pool-cage mesh is woven fiberglass yarn with a vinyl coating. It does not stretch and relax the way fabric does. A bowed, loose-looking panel with the spline still fully seated is the less common case, and usually points to the mesh having been installed without enough tension in the first place.
The more common Oviedo case is the groove itself: thirty-plus years of Central Florida humidity leaves a spline channel chalky and slightly deformed, and mesh rolled into a channel like that pulls back out under normal wind load — which reads, from the deck, as sagging.
Alafaya Woods (2,230 homes, 1985–1996) and Twin Rivers (1987–1997) are Oviedo’s largest blocks of thirty-to-forty- year-old frames, and the mesh on most of them has already been replaced once or twice — which is exactly what widens a spline groove.
What the fix costs
Re-tension, or repair the groove
If the groove is still sound, re-tensioning and re-spanning the panel is priced the same as any other single-panel job. If the groove has worn too wide to hold a standard-diameter spline, a wider spline or a groove repair is the real fix — a frame-repair line item, not a mesh line item.

|---|---|---|
| Standard ground-level panel, re-spanned | $35–$75 | A Screen Repair, Orlando, 2026 |
| Frame or groove repair (statewide, 3-tier) | $200–$1,000 | Well Built Florida, 2026 |

why is my pool screen sagging
Almost always the spline — the vinyl cord locking the mesh into the frame’s groove — has worked loose, not the mesh stretching. Fiberglass mesh does not stretch back once tensioned. On an Oviedo frame from the 1985–1997 build window that dominates Alafaya Woods and Twin Rivers, the groove has usually been rescreened before and has worn wide enough that a standard spline will not hold, which is why a wider spline or a groove repair — not just another re-spline — is often the real fix.

Tell us the neighborhood, roughly how many panels are torn, and whether the cage is single or two storey. That is enough to give you a real number instead of a range.
